Bosphorus 22 master ride
Bosphorus has ended the search for vintage cymbals. The 22" Master Series Ride, originally developed by jazz great Neal Smith, is completely hand made. Like all Bosphorus Cymbals, from the casting process through the final hammering, not one hammer mark is made by a machine. The alloy is from an ancient formula passed down by first generation cymbal smiths. It gives these instruments a soft, "played-in" feel. Finally, these cymbals are much thinner than today's heavier weighted cymbals. Simply put, today's medium weight is much heavier than a medium weight cymbal in 1950. Another testimony to their weight is the characteristic "ripple" made by the cymbal's edge when played.

Sabian HHX Complex Series Cymbals are a natural evolution of other Sabian cymbals. These B20 bronze cymbals are made using techniques developed in other series, combining lathing and hammering patterns to create a new sound that is dark and lush, with a wide swath of overtones.
The HHX Complex Series uses two different kinds of hammering - a deeper, larger hammer makes the larger hammering marks that are easily seen from the bottom of the cymbal, and a smaller hammering pattern is used on the top, carefully honing in on a complex blend of frequencies (hence the name). The bell is unlathed, with tight hammering that makes the sound stand out from the rest of the cymbal.
